The Count Down Till Christmas

November 29, 2011

Well it’s that time of year again, the count down to Christmas. It seems like the decorations go up earlier and earlier. The Holiday frenzy! Shop, shop and shop till you drop. Buy, buy and buy some more. Sales, sales and more sales. My head spins when I hear and see the commercials on TV about the great deals you can get. I know this is the time of year where retailers make there money but really it’s like people on a shopping high, like there on crack cocaine with shopping madness. Most of the stuff we don’t need, don’t really want and can’t really afford. People are putting themselves in debt over the idea that we must buy gifts for others to either look good or feel that that is expected of them.
How about a Christmas of hope, faith, love and joy with simple gifts. Gifts from the heart. All the other stuff can wait. There always will be another sale. Christmas is not one big sale, and rushing to the mall to shop! It is about finding your joy and inner peace within your heart and sharing yourself, your true authentic self with others. Christmas is about spirit, hope and forgiveness.
So if you are participating in the holiday shopping madness, please just remember to bless the person waiting on line behind you and in front of you. Bless your neighbors, and all those people you come in contact with on a daily basis. That truly is the Christmas spirit. Amen!

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 21, 2011

Happy Thanksgiving! This is a time of year when we go inward, reflect and give thanks to all that we have. We have so much to be thankful for. I think we forget the simple things that so many take for granted like running water, hot water in an instant, refrigerators, indoor plumbing and the list goes on. We live better that kings and queens did 100’s of years ago. There are people who live without these basic hygienic essentials. We have much to be thankful for. Please take a moment and give thanks to all that you do have. When you focus on being thankful the universe opens a space to allow more abundance into your life. So to those that are celebrating with family, friends or are alone, remember to be thankful no matter where you are or what you have. Abundance starts within your mind and spreads when you open your heart to others. Thank you all!

Obsess Much?

November 16, 2011

Have you ever been obsessed by a thought that simply won’t leave your mind? I recently became obsessed by a negative incident that left me feeling wounded. I was rehashing the words someone said to me over and over and over again! It became an obsession! All day I was thinking about it, I went to bed with it lingering on my mind and woke up with it still lingering like a bad hangover. Why was I letting this bother me so much?
After the second day of obsessing over this, I toke out my journal to write about it and then called a friend to share what went down. I realized that I needed to ask myself two questions to get over this obsession. 1- What do I need to learn from this? and 2- How did I create this? Once I took myself out of victim hood I got a clear picture of how I was able to transmute this negative incident into a positive, constructive and healing experience.
It isn’t easy to see the bigger picture and take responsibility for all the events that are occurring in my life, however, if I am to grow and become wiser, this is something I must do.
The people who press our buttons the most are our greatest teachers so I thank my teachers for helping me learn lessons that will excel my life to new heights and to be able to soar with the eagles!
Here’s to obsession and transmuting it into a burning desire for something great!

The Power of Positive Habits

November 9, 2011

People are habitual by nature. We have formed habits that create how we live our lives. We dress a certain way, we think a certain way and go about our daily lives usually doing the same thing over and over again. This is a habit. The question is how is that working for us? Are we stuck in a rut? Are we living our best life? If not why not change the habit?
The definition of a habit is an unconscious inclination to act in a particular way, acquired through frequent repetition over a long period of time.  Einstein said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. The key word here is unconscious. We must become conscious of our habits and begin to acquire new habits.
It really isn’t difficult , however it is learning new behaviors or habits.
Take a different route to work, wear something different, think new thoughts, these will create new habits, habits that will support a new you. Over time your life will change. Start eating healthy, exercise, listen to an inspiring piece of music or read a book that will uplift you. These are the habits that will move you forward and create a more fulfilling life.
All habits can be changed if you decide right now to no long settle for less. You can be led by your habit or you can form habits that will lead you to the life of your dream! So what shall it be? Every moment you have the opportunity to step up, out and forward into habits that will support you, go for it, be someone new!!

In the book As a Man Thinketh by James Allen, he devotes the last chapter on Serenity.

The first paragraph says “Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom. It is the result of long and patient effort in self-control. Its presence is an indication of ripened experience, and of a more than ordinary knowledge of the laws and operations of thought. “

How do you find your serenity? Do you react to situations or respond with a calm composure?  Serenity comes from knowing oneself and being at peace with oneself. When your thoughts, feeling and actions are aligned you will be in a state of serenity. When any one of these is not in alignment you will be in a state of uncertainty. This allows your emotions to go on a merry-go ride of ups and downs, not sure how you will react to any giving circumstance.

Becoming serene it is the greatest gift you can give yourself. It is priceless and is a gift that will keep on giving. A serene life is filled with success, influence and power.

Serenity is the answer!
