There was an article in the Sunday New York Times entitled, The Problem with Positive Thinking. It states that the problem with positive thinking is that it fools the mind into perceiving that we’ve already attained our goal, and weakens our ability to go out and achieve it. Actually, this sounds more like negative advice, keeping people feeling down and defeated. Every theologian, philosopher, and great thinker have disagreed on many topics, however they all agreed on one. You become what you think about. If your thinking in negative terms, you will get negative results. If you think in positive ones, you will get positive results. In a world where we are bombarded with negative messages all day long, I believe we need to hear, see, and feel positive and uplifting affirmations to help us change our own thinking and heal the world. Yes, you need to set goals, and take action, not merely day dream about something you desire. The article says that positive thinking may calm you down but drains you of energy. I know that when I think positive thoughts, I feel energized and when I am feeling negative, I feel down and have little energy.. The study they conducted to prove their theory, is just that, a theory. I suggested you take the advice of people who are positive minded, associate with positive thinkers and fake it until you make it. After all, if you think you can, you are right. If you think you can’t you are right too!
The definition of Being Patience is a state of endurance under difficult circumstances, which can mean preserving in the face of delay or provocation without acting on annoyance/anger in a negative way; or exhibiting forbearance when under strain, especially when faced with long-term difficulties.
I have been having major computer issues over the last few weeks. Nothing irritates me more that this. I have learned to have patience in many areas of my life, however, technology issues seem to get me frustrated. I know that I must let it go, and relax. These issues will eventually work themselves out. Being patience, is truly a virtue. The more I breath through the difficulty and let it go, wait, take some positive action, the more things begin to work out. The more I become angry over the situation, the worse I feel, and the more entangled I become in the problem. So, take a deep breath, have a good laugh, relax, wait, move forward and be patient. It will all work out for the greater good.
Health really is your number one wealth. I recently got a cold and just felt run down. I needed to take a few days off to rest up and regain my energy. I just didn’t have the strength to do too much, so I listened to my body and did just that. I take very good care of myself and eat well, meditate, dance for exercise, as well as take long walks. However, in spite of all the care I give myself, I was working too much and not sleeping enough. My body is very sensitive and I know immediately when I over do things. When I don’t feel well, nothing else matters. It doesn’t matter how much money, success, things, or anything else I own. The only things that matters is regaining my health. Health is wealth. I am so grateful to be wealthy. I hope you take the time to stay healthy too.
Why do so many people settle for less than what they really want? Life has always presented challenges and hurdles that can hold us back. We stay in our comfort zone. If you read the news or watch it on TV, you hear all the reasons why you should stay in your comfort zone. We have the Ebola virus, terrorism all around the world, the economy is in trouble, and the list goes on and on. We live in a bubble, wanting security from the madness. I say, get out of your own way and begin to do different things. Fear, has a way of crippling you into staying frozen. I have realized that a life worth living is one that I get to step out of my own way, get out of my comfort zone, and give openly. Experiment and experience new things. That’s what being alive means! So LIVE!!!
