What’s the Matter

Last week I watched a show on PBS about the discovery of matter. It was absolutely fascinating. At one time people believed that the four elements of matter were, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. Then through research, curiosity, and experimentation, a physicist by the name of Dmitri Mendeleyev, and others began uncovering the mysteries of those four elements. Now we have the periodic table which organizes all the compositions, structure, and properties, of matter.  It’s as if the answers to life’s wonders  were being revealed to those who persistently sought for them. Madame Curie, discovered radium, through pain stacking years of dedication, determination, and persistence. Numerous other researchers discovered other chemicals that make up matter.

What does this have to do with you and your life?   Everything! We are spiritual being living in a body, a body is matter, matter is made of smaller elements of molecules, molecules are made up of atoms, and atoms are made up of protons, neurons, and electrons. Then we get even smaller into subatomic particles which are made up of quarks, photons, and neutrinos. After that, I’m not sure but it is more like we have the universe inside of each and everyone of us. We posses an infinite sea of possible potentiality waiting to be discovered.

Matter is life itself. The Greek root of matter is mother, creation, and material. The more we know, the more there is to know. So stay curious, and uncover the chemistry of what makes your life unique. There are many chemical reactions, and attractions. You do matter!matter
