Keep the Pause

May 28, 2020

I have never felt so connected to the earth than I have at this time. I have always been a tree hugger hippie that loves to walk barefoot in the grass. I have always had a deep connection with nature and can spend hours in quiet solitude just being in the midst of her beauty. I knew that the environment was crying out for help sending SOS signals for a very long time.

Something had to give. Our world has been in a state of crisis for a long time. Everything was out of balance. Now finally, there is a pause. Now we are awakening to what we knew had to stop. We can not go on the way we have and think that everything is going back to normal. We, as a collective whole have to change or we shall perish. This earth is both fragile and resilient, as people, but there comes a point of no return.

We must learn to reconnect with nature, to find a balance that is symbiotic and interdependent. A way that will benefit our needs and give back to the endless supply of her bounty that wants to provide and give. We can not continue to take and take without giving back. We reap what we sow, and if we aren’t sowing healthy seeds we will leave the soil barren and destitute. The seeds of thought, the seeds of crops, the seeds of love are all connected. It all starts with healthy and right minded thinking. To nurture and care for our bodies, our minds, our thoughts, our emotions, our words, our actions, our spirit, each other, our communities and our world.

This is a pause. A time to reflect, to slow down and feel. To find compassion for all living beings. To observe nature and rediscover the magnificence of life.  Look deep into the eyes of another and you will see the reflection of yourself. Look deeper and you will see the universe in yourself. Look even deeper and you will see the connection and see the oneness. Now is the time like no other. It is time to reconnect and find balance to heal the earth and ourselves.

Home Sweet Home

May 20, 2020

“When one’s expectations are reduced to zero, one really appreciates everything one does have.”

Stephen Hawking

About a year and a half ago, I was invited to go to an event that was celebrating the life and work of Stephen Hawking’s.  It took place in this little Bohemian like theater down in the Village of New York. Well, being a big fan of his work I jumped at the chance to go. There were all kinds of artists, brainiacs, and lay people like myself who came to get our minds blown. I wasn’t disappointed. It was an interactive evening of entertainment, discussions and some theater that displayed the big bang theory, dying stars, black holes and how the universe came to be through a tiny dot of singularity.

So what has this to do with what’s going on in the world today? Well, everything if we can open our hearts and minds to expand our consciousness. If we allow ourselves to look beyond ourselves and on to a bigger picture, we can feel a connection with the universe.  Fear has gripped and paralyzed the majority of so many that is difficult for them to see beyond their comfort zone which has now vanished for them. They say stay home, but what is home? A house is not a home. A home is where your heart is, and your heart is in you, around you, and everywhere you give of yourself. Your heart like the universe can collapse into a black hole or expand to radiate love.

When we realize that we are all one. no I, no we no nothing but a single point, maybe, just maybe we can let go of the fear that keeps us in bondage. Home sweet home, is in the heart. Your heart and mine. One Heart! All Love!

  (after Stephen Hawking)

Do you sometimes want to wake up to the singularity
we once were?

so compact nobody
needed a bed, or food or money—

nobody hiding in the school bathroom
or home alone

pulling open the drawer
where the pills are kept.

For every atom belonging to me as good
Belongs to you.   Remember?
There was no   Nature.    No
them.   No tests
to determine if the elephant
grieves her calf    or if

the coral reef feels pain.    Trashed
oceans don’t speak English or Farsi or French;

would that we could wake up   to what we were
— when we were ocean    and before that
to when sky was earth, and animal was energy, and rock was
liquid and stars were space and space was not

at all — nothing

before we came to believe humans were so important
before this awful loneliness.

Can molecules recall it?
what once was?    before anything happened?

No I, no We, no one. No was
No verb      no noun
only a tiny tiny dot brimming with

is is is is is

All   everything   home

Between Worlds

April 29, 2020

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the  last of the human freedoms- to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”

Viktor Frankl

I feel like I am living between worlds.  I still have one foot in the old world, a world that is quickly vanishing and my other foot in a brave new world. When will I allow myself to totally embrace the new and let go of the old? Maybe it is being courageous enough to just walk right into it. Maybe all I have to do is leave behind all the baggage of  limiting thoughts, beliefs, habits, behaviors and fears that have created all the upheaval in the world. Could it be that easy? Does it take a crisis to recognize this truth?

So many questions. There are many people who are hurting more than ever. The massive changes in the world has caused havoc in peoples  lives. Alcoholism, child abuse, domestic violence are at an all time high. In Naturopathic terms, this is called a healing crisis. Everything is coming to the surface to be healed. All our fears, worries, insecurities, and darkness that we want to hide is all being revealed. The corruption, deceit, and cover-ups are bubbling up to the surface. Everything is being exposed.

Staying calm in the midst of the upheaval takes faith in knowing that everything is for the greater good. The divine operation is always for expansion and greater expression. This means something beyond what has gone before. Something entirely new. However, this understanding comes from deep contemplation and practice. Practicing being mindful and to observe my emotions, is where the answers to these questions reveal themselves. To listen and feel my feelings without judgement. To be compassionate with myself and love myself deeply. When I do this, I am ready to step into the brave new world. I then am ready to let go of the old world of limitation and put both feet fully committed into the unknown. A world that is full of miracles and wonder. If you are feeling like you’re between worlds. Let’s take that leap of faith together. Are you ready?

As the World Turns

April 16, 2020

As I ponder, wonder, contemplate and imagine what the future holds for humanity, my thoughts drift into a simpler way of life. A day and time when people weren’t so rushed. This pandemic has put a screeching halt to our routines, and shaken many to realize that life is so fragile. How could something invisible rattle us into a state of panic and fear and have this much control over the way we live and die?   If what we focus on expands, what are you focused on?  Life as we know it was spinning out of control. It had to crash. Many deep down inside really wanted to get off the worry-go-round but were caught up in the momentum. If we can see what’s good about this, we can begin to shape and mold our future into something wonderful.

What if this virus is giving us a chance to reset, readjust, reevaluate, rejuvenate and re establish a new way to live? People were just going through the motions, faster and faster! Rushing is fear. Taking the rush hour train to work and back, then going to happy hour, just to do the same thing day after day.  Happy hour was really numbing hour from the mundane routine of being trapped in the cog of the way society has brain washed us into believing how we need to behave. Consumerism and commercialism had us squeezed so tight, that it felt like we were in a straight jacket. Well, here is your chance to get free! To release yourself from the prison.

What will you do to imagine a new world? What do you want it to look like? How do you want it to feel? Together we can create a future that is bright, healthy, prosperous, compassionate and full of wonderful possibilities. Dream, play and envision this and collectively we can create it.

Let’s co-create, are you ready?

We Are All Connected

April 9, 2020

We are all connected, to each other, biologically. To the earth, chemically. To the rest of the universe anatomically… Not only are we in the universe, the universe is in us.

This realization is becoming more evident then ever before. Every day I wake up asking for guidance. I ask how may I be of service to humanity? The more time I have to reflect on this understanding the more liberated I feel.  We are social, emotional, energetic and spiritual beings. Knowing that we are connected is the most reassuring part of being human. We all want to be loved….

The more you know yourself the more you will know others. The more you know others the more compassion you will have. During these times of uncertainty ask yourself, what am I afraid of? What are the thoughts and feelings that are coming up for me at this time? I know a few friends who within the last week have transcended. There is sadness and empathy that I am experiencing. It’s a difficult time for so many.

How do we rise above and seek comfort during these times? By realizing that we are all connected. That there is a cosmic web that binds everything and everyone together. There is no separation. Every thought we think, to every act we take, is all affecting the whole. The more you can lift your vibration, the higher the frequency you will project  The higher the frequency you project the more connected you will feel.

The more connected you feel, the more love will radiate to and through you. The more love you exude, the more light will prevail. The more light that is emanating on the earth, the less darkness and fear can effect you.

Breath this in! We are all in this together.

Blessings & love,

Monica

Navigating Uncertainty With Faith and Courage

April 1, 2020

We are living in extraordinary times. The world we all thought we knew has been rearranged, turned upside down, right side out and shaken to the core. Although some would like things to just return to normal, we have to realize that there is no normal ever again. Things are forever changed.

Things weren’t working for a very long time and until this virus came along, we were busy distracting ourselves with things that took our attention away from what really mattered. Now we must come face to face with our fears, insecurities, habits, behaviors and lifestyles. There’s nowhere to hide and no where to go to avoid the feelings that will come up for you.

Trying to hold on to what was will only bring more suffering and pain. Embracing change and creating new systems that supports, encourages and empowers cooperation and compassion will emerge as we navigate through these times.

Now is the time to take extra good care of your health. To eat natural foods from the earth rather than processed foods. It is the time to pay attention to your thoughts and keep focused on what’s good. To be grateful for that we do have. Gratitude connects us to feelings that uplifting and supports our immune system. fear will weaken it.

Trust that you have the power to know that happiness is a choice, no matter what is going on. Trust that you will be calm and positive in spite of what the media is broadcasting to the public. Turn off the news and go within. This is the time to meditate, take a walk-in nature, journal, dance, paint, study or do what ever lifts your spirits. Discover you purpose and ignite it with passion.

These are the days of miracles and wonder. We’re all in this together. We are all connected.

God Bless,

Monica

The Answers Are Under Our Feet!

March 4, 2020

“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”

Buckminster Fuller

There is a crisis on earth today. We are living in what is called the 6th major mass extinction. It is estimated that between 0.01 and 0.1% of all species will become extinct each year. That means between 200 and 2,000 extinctions occur every year. That is an alarming rate! If we keep going the way we’re going, our quality of life will become unsustainable. Our entire system will collapse. People are becoming more despondent and feeling hopeless. Because of this, people feel disconnected and broken. So how can we begin to make a change and reconstruct a new foundation build on the values of cooperation, consciousness and compassion?

Maybe the answers are right under our noses or feet and we just must begin to look and notice! I have always loved and respected nature, so when I heard of the movie; Fantastic Fungi-How Mushrooms Can Heal, Shift Consciousness and Save the Planet, I went to see it.  I was completely transformed. You see mycelium is the vegetative part of the fungus or the mass branching threads that connect and communicate with all of nature. Fungi’s incredible ability to heal environments that have suffered from catastrophic change might be explained by the epigenetic qualities of their network-like design. It is a network, our brain is a network, and our computer information-sharing systems are networks. Networks are valuable because of their resilience to change, their ability to adapt to change, and their ability to experience change.

Somehow our networks have become separated. Our families, our communities, our cultures, our world have felt the tuck of competition rather than communion. Can we reconnect the synapses that have become separated between nature and consciousness? Can we learn from the mycelium that knows how to share, be generous, support, and communicate with each other that is right under our feet?  Learning how to communicate with one another in a compassionate way will reestablish our connection with nature by creating a network of intelligent solutions. The whole is greater than its parts. To heal ourselves and the earth, we must begin to realize who we are and where we came from. We are all one. Healthy conversations build strong networks, strong networks connect and support one another. All life began and will end with fungi. The quality of our lives will be determined by how well we are able to communicate with each other. Let’s build a new model designed after one that has been around from the beginning of time. Love, the ultimate connector. It is the mycelium network that holds everything together.

Mind Blowing Adventures!

February 26, 2020

“A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.”

Oliver Wendell Homes Jr.

Iv’e been travelling a lot in the past few months. Back in October, I went to Munich Germany for my moms 90th Birthday party. It was so much fun. She was born there but lives in New York now.  I’ve been to Germany countless times, however, each and every time I go is a new experience.

Then in November I was visiting my daughter in Palm Springs, California.

Wow, we hiked Joshua Tree National Park and Andreas Canyon. It was  incredible. I love to travel and have been since I was practically born. Lately I had an opportunity to take a few trips back to back and boy did I take advantage of it.  In January I went to Johannesburg South Africa to visit a friend and then off to Cape Town. It was a long flight, but well worth it. Such beautiful vistas, beaches and nature. Getting to emerge into the culture is absolutely fabulous. Having conversations with people and  finding out about who they are and their family stories and history is transforming.

Then a few weeks later, Cuba! I just couldn’t get enough! The culture, history, people, architecture, music, beaches, people, cigars and so much more. This was one of the most unique trips I ever took.  Truly a place that is etched in my heart and soul forever.

Traveling allows you to broaden your view and perspective of life. It opens up opportunities, creates ideas and new friendships. This world is so beautiful. I am blessed and grateful to be able to expand my mind, commune with others so that I can share the experience with you. If you get the opportunity to travel, take it. We are all time travelers on this blue Earth, so venture out and see what might be awaiting you.

Fake News

February 19, 2020

What’s the news of the day, good neighbor I pray. They say the balloon has gone up to the moon.

Nursery Rhyme

Fake news, it’s every where these days. You can tweet false information and it will spread like wild fire! Fad diets, the newest health craze, and so much propaganda to sell you something. Power, money and greed have become the mega-god.  Someone is trying to sell or convince you of something every day.  We have the ability to create images, manipulate pictures, distort documents, statements and so much more.

So how will you know if something is real or fake? You don’t unless you look deeper into the source from where it is coming from. You can no longer believe everything you see, read or hear at face value. You have to double click and research on your own, otherwise you will be a part of the problem in spreading this fake news. Think before you click and share. Let’s face it, we are all over loaded with too much information. The truth has to be highly guarded and valued since scams and corruption is all too prevalent. It seems like everything in the media has a spin on it. If you listen to one news station they tell you their view point. Then you listen to another and they have a completely different take on the same subject. Social media is a whole new way of spreading fake news.  Your head can spin around and do a few 360’s before you realize it’s all fake. Truth and trust is more important than ever these days. Do your do diligence and resource the source of where the information you are receiving is coming from. Double click and go deeper into the subject matter before this fake news becomes dangerously real. It not only hurts people, but relationships, cultures, society and humanity. Stay curious!

Chop Wood, Carry Water

February 12, 2020

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see the tension that people are feeling around the world. Just turn on the TV, radio, internet or any devise and you will be hooked into a world that seems to have gone mad! I get phone calls from distressed people almost daily. We all want relief from our depression, anxiety, stress, and other maladies that are causing us to feel bad. Too many people think that a pill will cure their ill, but in many cases this is causing more of a problem.  You  just want these yucky feeling to go away.  I know, I’ve been there. I know what depression, anxiety and stress feel like. It’s a state of mind that is trapping you into patterns of familiarity. To change requires a willingness to surrender to the familiar and venture into the unknown territory of what could be. It is the willingness to create new patterns of hope, possibilities and expansion.

If you can wonder, imagine and aspire to something greater than the darkness that seems to loom over you, you can then begin to get an inkling of what enlightenment can feel like.  After all, enlightenment is a only state of being. The state of depression is dark and dense. Enlightenment is allowing the light to shine into and through you. But, it only comes when you are willing to do the work. You’ve got to put in the time and effort!   Change, is possibilities. Before enlightenment, you chop wood and carry water. After enlightenment you chop wood and carry water.
