High Anxiety

November 14, 2019

The Holidays are quickly approaching and that means people become more stressed than any other time of year. People put so much pressure on themselves to get everything done. Being around family can trigger certain behaviors that you would rather avoid.  It seems like everyone is so stressed out these days. Anxiety is the # 1 condition that children are now plagued with. The research is showing that here on Long Island NY, where I live that Xanax is the highest prescribed medication than anywhere else in the country! Why are people so stressed? And a bigger question is why are children becoming so stressed out?

There are three types of stress that people experience.

  • Physical Stress: Injuries to the body, such as broken bones, torn ligaments, wounds or any other trauma that can inflict the body.
  • Chemical Stress: Food poisoning, hang overs, chemical sensitivities, electro-magnetic interference from Wi fi, environmental toxins, viruses and other such reactions.
  • Emotional Stress: Single parenting, working two jobs, divorce, type A personality, work overload, traffic jams, deadlines, unexpected bills, caring for elderly parents and the list can go on and on….

All of these will affect the mind and body in a negative way.

When you are having a difficult time quieting your mind, your body will give you signs that your out of balance. IBS (Irritable bowl syndrome), headaches, rashes, aches and pains and a myriad of other symptoms can appear as well as disturbed sleep, depression and so on. 95% of all illnesses are stress related.

Taking Xanax and other such medication has become a crutch and an addiction. Anxiety can be treated in natural ways by developing a healthy lifestyle.

Here are Seven tools that can help ease the stress and anxiety.

1-Breath: Take a few deep guttural breaths in and out when you feel like your head is spinning and your thoughts are racing. It will calm the neuro-pathways in your brain and relax your body.

2-Movement: Take a walk, dance, yoga, qigong, swim or anything to change the energy in your body. Your body always keeps score. Emotions are energy in motion, so change the energy and change the emotion.

3-Diet: Unfortunately, our food change has become corrupted. The more live natural and organic foods you can eat, the better. Eliminate sugar, processed foods, wheat, meat and dairy as much as possible. It has a direct correlation to anxiety in stress. A healthy microbiome is #1 defense against illness and disease.

4-Meditate: Quieting the mind chatter and focusing on a mantra is a wonderful practice to stay in the present moment and eliminate distraction.

5-Nature: Connect with the outdoors. Take a walk in a wooded area or by the ocean. You are a part of nature and so many people have disconnected themselves from the natural world. Touch the soil with your feet and feel the energy from Mother Earth. It is healing.

6-Purpose: Discover what you love to do and do it every day. What are your gifts, abilities and talents? By focusing on your purpose, you will find that your mind will be absorbed in something greater than your worries.

7-Laugh: Laughter is good medicine. You can heal so many ills through laughter. It is good for the mind/body and soul.

Also reach out and talk to a professional, such as a coach, therapist, or specialist that can help and support you. Having someone who is compassionate and understanding to talk to is vital to heal the wounds, trauma and anxiety that you have bottled up inside yourself.

Let’s change the course of direction for our children and ourselves by utilizing these natural ways to alleviate stress and anxiety rather than numb and medicate.

Let’s become a more compassionate, grateful, loving, caring, understanding, creative and imaginative world. It all starts with YOU!

Change Is Coming

“Mother Earth is giving birth to a co-creative humanity. There’s not a majority anywhere, because old leadership does not have the authority to guide us.”

Barbara Marx Hubbard

I don’t believe anyone is not feeling some sort of struggle, pain, change, conflict or suffering in their lives or someone close to them. The world is going through a massive evolutionary time.

When you are against someone or thing there is no room for growth, collaboration, co-creation or advancement. You stay stuck in a mind set that is destructive rather than constructive. This pulls things apart rather than brings things together. There is a sense of separation, difference or competition. There can be no winners, everyone losses in this arena. This has been the model of health care, politics, business and relationships that has dominate our world for a millennium but is now collapsing. We can no longer sustain a world this is only concerned with oneself. This is an “I”-Centric focused way of being. The culture of a home, business, organization and world is literally dying because of this way of being.

When we become conscious of the fact that everything is connected and what we do to others, we do to ourselves, we can then begin to embrace a “WE”-Centric way of being.  I mean, even if you look at the word, WE it is full of I’s.

Being kinder, compassionate, understanding and creative is all about sharing and staying open to our differences. Diversity is essential for business growth and expansion. Different points of views and ways of looking at things is a must for the creative process.

Learning how to communicate in a way that unites is the key to creating a culture of cooperation. We are social being. We need each other to survive. Everything you say, think, do and feel effects everything else whether you can visibly see the impact or not. There is an evolution happening. You can choose to do this through revolution or through finding a peaceful solution. We can thrive if we choose to co-create together.

Shed It and Forget It

January 23, 2019

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

My most peaceful time of the day are early mornings. I like to get up before dawn. There is a silent magic in the air and I feel closer to source energy when things are quiet and still. I meditate, journal, pray and stretch my body to release any stiffness from sleep. Once the day gets going, boy it is full throttle. Clients, appointments, calls, setting up programs, talks, meetings, shows and on and on…..

I have learned over the years that the more I cling to the things I want to happen, in my time, I am in for a rude awakening. It only causes me to feel horrible. So my mantra for the New Year is Shed It and Forget It. Surrender, let go, release, shake it off and give it up. The more I do this the lighter I feel. The pressure is off. I take full responsibility to do what I set out to do with love, and my highest intention and leave the rest up to Source.

If you’re feeling stuck, frustrated, confused, angry, guilty, shameful, jealous, resentful, stressed, anxiety, depressed, hurt or any negative emotion, you can begin to let go. There is support for you to do this. Please reach out. Choose to be happy, joyful, abundant, playful, compassionate, hopeful, creative, grateful and all the good emotions that will expand your life in a positive way. One day we will have to let go of it all. We can’t take it with us, so why not shed it now?
