We are certainly living in extraordinary times. You can even call them epoch times. There is a drama being played out in humanity that is changing so quickly that many people are getting caught in the strong currant of hate, fear, violence, anger, frustration and other negative emotions. Watching, listening and engaging in what the media is broadcasting can sweep you in that direction pretty easily. I choose not to do this. Oh yes, I can’t help getting the coverage of what’s going on and have watched the video of the horrible and disturbing act that killed George Floyd. I was deeply saddened by this act.
Just when the world was showing signs of hope and glimmers of healing from the pandemic an even more powerful and sinister virus has gripped us. The one of hate and prejudice. This virus can destroy not only your body but your soul. It will eat you up and destroy everything in its path. I can understand the pain and suffering that this unjust act has surfaced. I can understand the rage it has brought up. We all have darkness inside us. We all have a shadow. We just don’t like to become acquainted with our most deep and dark inner most fears. We will do anything to push them away. But there is no more running, there is no more hiding and there is no more distracting ourselves. We must become intimate with our fears, insecurities and vulnerabilities.
It is here that you will find your light. It is going through the dark night of the soul you will emerge the hero of your own story. When you’re able to transmute your anger into compassion, you will know that you’re out of the woods. When this happens you will discover there is another story unfolding that you might miss if you get distracted from the winds of change. This story is much more fascinating, glorious and beautiful. It’s the story of now! That’s right, the one right in front of you. There’s so much going on here. Can we keep our focus on this loving presence? Distracting is addictive behavior. It tempts you, it induces you, entices you, it coaxes you, it woos you, and convinces you to look away from the truth. Why not put your attention and energy on opening your hearts. Be the change you want to see in the world. No need to feed the fire, it’s been burning since the worlds been turning.

“The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure, the process is its own reward.”
What does it take to make a decision and stick by it? What brings you to that point that says enough, I’ve got to make a change? Usually it’s pain. That gnawing feeling that nags and pulls on your heart strings to let you know somethings got to give. The more you try to ignore it, the more it comes back with a vengeance. Making a decision to change is the first step. Being determined and committed to move in the direction of the change will take perseverance. You must be able to visualize what it is you want and that has to out way your fears of not changing.
Making no decision is worse than making a wrong decision. Clarity comes from engagement. The more you move in the direction of your dreams the more the universe assists you towards your dreams. Facing your fears takes courage. Everyday we are faced with decisions. Each one can led to a different path. That is why having a purpose is key. Ask yourself, is this decision going to move me closer or further away from my dream?
If you get an answer from your heart that says yes, go for it, than take the action, even if it scares you. Everyday move a little closer toward what it is you want. Make that decision and stick by it. It will be the best decision of your life!

A wise man can learn more from a foolish question than a fool can learn from a wise man.
I think one of the biggest fears we have is looking like a fool or being criticized. We don’t like to look, act or be different. Most people like to fit in and conform.
I remember being back in school, I was afraid to ask a question because I didn’t want to look foolish. But then someone was bold enough to ask the exact question I wanted to ask and everyone was happy that they did because most of the students didn’t understand what the teacher was saying.
Now I have learned to step outside my comfort zone, have confidence in my abilities and know there are no stupid questions.
What is it about taking a risk to look foolish that we are so afraid of? People made fun of Karl Benz, the creator of the automobile Mercedes Benz back in 1886. He actually had to take out his car at night to test drive it so people wouldn’t laugh and ridicule him. Or Gugliemo Marconi, an inventor and electrical engineer who pioneered work on long distance radio transmissions. His friends had him institutionalized thinking he was nuts to think he could send messages through the air. There are many such stories of people who took the risk in doing something, if they believed strongly in it.
What is it that you would like to accomplish but are afraid to do. Take the risk, believe in yourself and you could be the fool laughing all the way to the bank. Go for it.

Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.
Don Miquel Ruiz- The Four Agreements
This lesson was one of the most difficult for me and I believe most others as well to learn. The fear of criticism is one of the greatest fears. That is why people would rather die than speak on stage. I used to be petrified to speak in public. My voice would crackle and my body would shake from fear. However now I absolutely love it! By facing your fear, it will loss its hold on you. If people criticize you for doing something that isn’t to their liking, it’s their issues, not yours. They owe it, not you!
Be true to you and give no attention to the people how put you down. Give your best, be your best and let the rest fall away. Own your power!!!

“Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt.” William Shakespeare
Our doubts are like a tunnel or black hole that gets deeper and darker as you continually put your attention on them. When I have a desire or am working on a project, I am full of excitement and enthusiasm about creating it. But then I might encounter a snag or some resistance that keeps it from moving forward. Do I doubt the desire or do I doubt my ability to achieve it? I must put more energy and attention on the desire than I do on the doubts. People might tell me it can’t be done, or you don’t have the money to make that happen. I can then start believing them. Then more negative thoughts and limiting beliefs start popping into my mind.
What I do is focus on the truth of who I am. I wouldn’t have been giving the desire if I couldn’t make it come true. Picture in your mind what it is you want. That believe of achieving it needs to get stronger then the doubts. I say thank you to those doubts. Thank you for sharing, however I choose to put my energy and focus on what it is I am creating! It feels so much better and you are on your way to making it come true!
What is it that you want? What doubts get in your way? If you need help with staying focused, let’s talk.

To Many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears!
What stops us from living full out and taking the plunge into a joy filled life? Why do so many people get stuck in the muck of the ordinary? I know it is fear! I know how fear can hold us back from living our dreams. Little by little fear can creep in through a thought, through someones criticism, through a disappointment, through a seeming crisis or any other devious way fear knocks on our door. If we let it in, it will reek havoc and quickly destroy all the good that is there waiting to be released. I have had many such experiences, which started very early in my life. Both my parents had many fears that got downloaded into my mind-body. As an adult I realized how these fears were preventing me from living my dreams. So I took an inventory of what I thought was keeping me from a joy filled life. I decided to acknowledge the fear, thanked it for showing up to try and keep me safe, and started to live my dreams.
Does fear still try to knock down the door, you bet! Every time it does, my faith gets stronger and I do something that scares me. It’s time you start living your dreams instead of living your fears.
Do 1 thing every day that challenges you. Every time you do, you will get more confident and the next time when fear knocks on your door and faith answers, no one will be there.
