Happy Thanksgiving

Greetings,

During the Holidays, it might be challenging for many to feel happy or peaceful when you get together with family members due to past or present hurts and emotional pain. Emotions may come up that cause you shut down, get angry, or feel betrayed. Old wounds surface if someone says or does something that triggers you. It isn’t easy dealing with the people closest to us at times. They are the ones that can press your buttons and know what buttons  to press to get a reaction out of you.

Your feelings are your best guidance system. They are there to let you know exactly what you need to heal inside of you. When they surface, pay attention to them. Don’t dismiss them by drowning them with to much alcohol, numbing yourself with drugs or  stuffing yourself with to much food. Instead, read an inspirational passage in a book, watch an uplifting movie, volunteer for a few hours to those less fortunate, take a walk or whatever brings joy into your heart. If you need to dismiss yourself from the gathering to protect yourself, that too is OK.

Thanksgiving is about giving thanks, being grateful and appreciating what you do have and feeling good will connect you with those emotions.

All Cued Up

I am taking a course right now on Emotional Intelligence. I have taken this course before however I want to see how I can improve in the areas that still trigger my emotions. I still have plenty of room to grow! My emotional triggers are usually small things like my cell phone not working properly or my computer acting up. Then again I have some family members that can press certain buttons that try to stir things up.

What I find is missing when I work only with my EQ is my SQ or my spiritual intelligence. Without considering how this effects my EQ is leaving out a huge part of the equation. We are body, mind and soul. Therefore IQ (intelligence) EQ (emotional) and SQ (spiritual). When I coach people, I have discovered that most of their struggles are between the emotional and spiritual realms.

When I help people become aware of  this missing link we open up the possibilities for healing their emotions, as well as tapping into intelligence’s that  they never even were conscious of before. They increase their energy levels, productivity, health and happiness.

Here are 3 easy things to do to become aware and integrate your EQ and SQ.

1- When you are noticing your feelings, ask for guidance. Just see if you can quite your mind and listen.

2- Get comfortable in silence. Allow yourself the pleasure of just being. Feel the energy of the life force course through your body and mind without any judgement.

3- When something or someone presses your buttons, before you react, put your hand over your heart and breath.

Let There Be Light! Everything that thrives is fed by light. If you lift up a rock, and there was a seed under it, you will see that it sprouted but it is a colorless and a stunted seedling searching for the light.  Within a few hours of warmth and  filtered light, you will see that it straightened itself and  color began coursing through its veins.

We too need to have the weight of a burden lifted from our shoulders in order to thrive. We need to be in an environment that is encouraging  and supportive to restore health and happiness.

All the great thinkers, theologians, scientists and philosophers, have disagreed on many subjects. However, there is one thought that they all agreed on. That is, that we become what we think about. Here is how Brian Tracy articulates it:

Aristotle said that we live in a universe governed by law and order. He said that everything that happens, happens for a specific reason, whether or not we know what that reason is.
The law of cause and effect says that, for every effect in your life, there is a specific cause. Nothing happens by accident. Success has specific causes. Happiness has specific causes. Prosperity and wealth have specific causes. Everything you do, or fail to do, has an effect or a result, positive or negative, somewhere in your life. Your job is to find out the cause-effect relationships and apply them to your own advantage.
The most important application of the law of cause and effect is this. “Thoughts are causes, and conditions are effects.”
In the Old Testament it says, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”
In the New Testament it says, “According to your faith, it is done unto you.”
If you want to change or improve any of the conditions in your life, you must change or improve your thinking. And when you change your thinking, you change your life and everything that happens to you. And there is no other way!
