But I Meant Well.

October 24, 2019

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

English proverb

How many times have you heard someone say, but I meant well. As a parent, you always want the best for your children and family right? If you own a business, you always want to make the best decisions for your employees, right? In government, the elected officials always want to do their best for the people, right? In corporations, they want to do and be their best for their stake holders and provide quality products and or service, right?

I could go on and on listing ways that we all start out with good intentions, however if you do not fully understand what the impact will be, your intentions will backfire and turn into something that is corrupt, hurtful, harmful, and even dangerous. Your intentions must be grounded in spiritual law and sound wisdom. Every intention must be a conscious choose for the greater good of all. The world is in a state of turmoil and upheaval because of intentions based on greed, and the believe that you and I are separate. Families try to protect themselves or make choices based on

ignorance. This can be very harmful, even though your intentions weren’t meant to be. Our intentions must be based in love. They must be for the greater good. Things are in chaos due to the lack of understanding, consciousness, compassion and believing that nature is outside of us.

True good intentions, are paved with a holistic approach. It is the golden rule. What we do to one, we do to all. Your intentions are powerful. Your impact is even more powerful. Find kindness, strength, love, compassion, beauty, and virtues of grace in your heart to open yourself to goodness.

Good intentions come from the heart, not from the head.

Being of service and keeping yourself humble will be sure fire way to guard against good intentions turning toward hell. Keep the journey onward and upward.

How May I Serve

April 10, 2019

“Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country.”

John Kennedy

I wrote a book entitled How May I Serve, memoirs of a spiritual waitress. (Pen name Karen Mathews) Being of service gives my soul and spirit the greatest joy. I feel so uplifted when I am helping another person or a group of people. When they are uplifted we all rise. I believe we all want to do this. When we find our purpose and ignite it with passion we will thrive together.

What can you do to uplift someone? How can you be of service? It starts with small acts of kindness. That’s all it takes. Hold the door open for someone. Put a quarter in someones meter that is about to expire. Volunteer your time, donate some money. The more you give the more you get. That’s the law. Happy Giving!

I Am Because We Are

September 20, 2018

In Africa there is a concept known as ‘ubuntu’ – the profound sense that we are human only through the humanity of others; that if we are to accomplish anything in this world it will in equal measure be due to the work and achievement of others.

Nelson Mandela

“One day, a western anthropologist went to Africa to study the social behavior of an indigenous tribe. He proposed a game to the children and they willingly agreed to be part of it. He put a basket filled with fruits underneath a tree and told the children that whoever would reach the basket first would win the whole basket and could eat the fruits all by him- or herself.

He lined them all up and raised his hand to give the start signal. Ready. Set. Go!
The children took each other’s hands and started running together. They all reached the basket at the same time. Then they sat down in a big circle and enjoyed the fruits together, laughing and smiling all the time.
The anthropologist could not believe what he saw and he asked them why they had waited for each other as one could have taken the whole basket all for him- or herself.
The children shook their heads and replied, “Ubuntu, how can one of us be happy if all the others are sad?”

What if we all lived our lives with this in mind? What if you opened your heart and mind to embracing the human in humanity? Our world will change when we realize that we are all a part of each other. We live in a holographic universe. There is no separation between you and I.

Call to action: Do one thing today that benefits someone else. If you could do one thing that uplifts another person, not only will you feel so good, you will be paying an act of kindness forward…….. Spread the love!
