I’m So Frustrated

March 13, 2019

When you are learning something new, do you get totally frustrated if you aren’t picking it up as easily as you would like? Learning a new skill requires effort, focus, concentration, repetition, desire and a host of other things that keep you engaged. It can be frustrating!

It is part of the learning curve. I’m going through this right now. I am involved in 3 online courses that has got me screaming sometimes. I have so much work to do. I feel like I’m back in school. Well I am kinda. I love to learn. I love to dig deep into subjects of the mind. It’s my addiction. I am fascinated by how the brain works so I’m studying neuroscience. It ain’t easy. I just want to throw all the books up in the air sometimes.

Thank God I know this is a part of the learning process. I know I will get really good at understanding how the brain works when I keep learning, studying and applying this material to my every day life.

So how about you? What would you like to learn? Maybe you would like to learn a new language. You might suck at speaking it for awhile but with practice you will get better and better.

How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, Practice, Practice…..

I’d Like to Get to Know You

February 27, 2019

“To get to the next level of greatness depends on the quality of the culture, which depends on the quality of relationships, which depends on the quality of conversations. Everything happens through conversations.”

 Judith E. Glaser

Why is it that negative conversations and comments stay with us so much longer than a positive one? If we are in a fight or argument with our co-worker, boss, spouse, friend, or relative, we tend to hold on to those emotions much longer than when we are getting along and cooperating.

Well it has to do with how we are wired. Our brains release hormones and neuro-peptides such as adrenaline and cortisol when we are stressed, angry or feeling bad. These chemicals last for 26 hours or more in our blood stream.

When we are happy and feeling good, we release the chemical oxytocin. This is the love hormone, or what is called the tend and befriend hormone.

Unfortunately, oxytocin does not stay in our bodies very long, so it must be replenished often. The good news is that when we become aware of this, we can change the way we communicate with others to down regulate the stress hormones and up regulate the feel-good ones.

One of the best ways to do this is by looking into the eyes of the person you are talking to.

Being mindful of how our behaviors affect others is key to building trust and transforming a conversation from negative and stress producing one to a positive and cooperative one.

The bottom line is this, a defining question for your company is: What is the quality of the emotional relationships here?

By learning a few tools, strategies, and techniques you can change the dynamics of the environment where everyone feels good. And when everyone feels the love, productivity goes way up too.

Understanding the Neuroscience of Conversations and applying this wisdom inside companies transforms individuals, teams, and organizations and opens new pathways for mutual success.

Are you ready to transform your company?

From Depression to Expression

August 2, 2018

Depression begins with disappointment. When disappointment festers in our soul, it leads to depression.

Joyce Meyer

I was talking with a client the other day whose life was always  filled with much joy, prosperity and purpose.  He is two years away from retiring, from a job which he has always loved until recently. Now, somehow he has become disconnected and his fears are over taking him. Like many people who feel depressed, he is going through the motions without the passion and purpose in life. It is a tough place to be. It is debilitating.

I know, in my younger years I too felt alone, anxiety, sad and disconnected. I understand the grip of pain that latches on to your soul. This darkness grabs you and doesn’t want to let go. I put on a happy face but underneath I was a totally mess.

What I did was turn my mess into a message. That is what my client is now doing as well. It doesn’t happen over night. Our society has become so dysfunctional that it kind of reinforces depression, suppression, and oppression.  Addiction is now considered a pandemic. Everyone has their heads down looking in their phones. No one is communicating face to face any more. The word communicate comes from the word commune, to come together. To commune with nature, to commune with our spirit, to commune with divine intelligence and even commune with our bodies in a healthy way. Through neuroscience we know that the brain can rewire itself. We know that the brain has plasticity. Which means that with the proper help, understanding and support we can reconnect to our true self and divine energy to lift ourselves out of a state of depression to an expression of joy!

Finding your joy and releasing your pain is the greatest gift you can give to yourself and to the world. When we do, we are actually creating a more peaceful place for all humanity. That is how big this really is! Here’s to you’re happy self.

Are You A Genius?

August 17, 2017

IQ is the measure of someones intellect. EQ is the measure of someones emotional intelligence and CQ is the measure of someones ability to communicate intelligently. But what really makes a genius a genius? Albert Einstein was a genius. Stephen Hawkins is a genius.  Michelangelo and Leonardo deVinci were also geniuses in their own right. Marie Curie, Virginia Wolf and Ludwig van Beethoven were considered genius, and the list goes on…

According to Websters dictionary Genius is defined as:  exceptional intellectual or creative power or other natural ability.

Is it something in the brain that makes a genius? Is it intelligence, creativity, perseverance, or simply luck? Is it something from the divine?

Just because you are really smart and have a high IQ does not make you a genius. Through my studies and understanding, EQ and CQ are just as  important as IQ for getting the results you want in life. However that still will not make you a genius.

What if we can nurture someone to become a genius? Maybe the more we allow creativity, imagination and create a nurturing environment to become  part of a child’s life the more they can develop their brain to become geniuses? Through neuroscience we are getting closer to understanding what parts of the brain get activated when we use our creative skills.

I believe that you must have a strong purpose, have passion, perseverance and determination to unleash the genius inside of you! You also need support!!! Someone who believes in YOU!

If you need a coach, hire one, it will be the best investment you can make! Don’t be a smarty pants, thinking you know it all. Be a genius!!

Are Your Thoughts Killing You?

June 7, 2017
If Your Happy and You Know it, Clap Your Hands!
Silly? Not so. Do you know that there is a direct link between how we feel and cancer?

Determining your risk of cancer has a lot to do with your emotional state of mind.
I remember reading a book many moons ago entitled ” You Can’t Afford A Negative Thought” (I don’t remember the author).
Negative thoughts produce, cortisol, adrenaline, and other potentially harmful hormones.
More and more neuroscience is discovering how true this statement is.
How we communicate in business and in our personal lives are also effecting our chemistry. The hormone oxytocine is the tend and befriend hormone. It is a feel good hormone. It is a fabulous hormone to release into your bloodstream to attract new clients and establish warm and engaging relationships. It is the charismatic hormone and people will be naturally drawn to you.
Wouldn’t you want to learn how to at download this hormone at will?

We can learn to access this hormone at will through understanding a few simple techniques.

oxytocin
You must understand the great laws of nature to begin to use them in your favor.
The 1st law of nature is that everything is energy. EVERYTHING!!!
The 2nd law, is thoughts move energy.
The 3rd law is we are always working with the law of attraction or the law of repulsion.
PROFESSIONAL SALESPEOPLE ARE EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATORS.
One of the greatest problems in sales is communication, or the lack of it. To effectively lead a prospect, it is necessary to remember that you are communicating on three different levels of life, simultaneously.
To become a professional salesperson, effective communication is essential.
You cannot function in a truly dynamic, creative manner by yourself; you need a COACH or a team of COACHES trained in understanding these laws.

When it becomes a habit to help your prospects get what they want in life, the Law will see that your customers will be the medium through which your good will be delivered to you. That is the LAW.

“The law of cause and effect is the law of laws.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Anyone who would like to learn more on how to become an effective communicator and download some oxytocin, please reach out. I love to communicate
