Be Loyal to the Soil

July 22, 2020

Whats soil have to do with being positive? Everything! Healthy soil is dwindling at an alarming rate. You might ask, why should I care. Well as above so below. If our soil is depleted we as humans will witness the most devastating consequences yet to be seen on earth. It will make this corona virus look like small potatoes to what will come if we don’t start paying attention to our soil. Please understand, this is not to evoke fear but rather awareness.

Healthy soil is alive and beaming with microorganisms that provide a vast array of nutrients that keep our bodies healthy as well as our environment. Our bodies consist of 90% of these microorganisms. They live in us and on us. They are responsible for our brain function, and every other system in our body to function in optimum health. Most of the vegetables we are consuming have been grow in soil that has been supplemented by inorganic matter leaving it devoid of any beneficial nutrients. We have to constantly add more and more fertilizers and additives to the soil to product our crops. Most of the crops are now grown in what is called mono-culture. That is acres and acres of the same produce in a designated space. This weakens the crops even more, which now will need pesticides, herbicides and insecticides to keep them from dying. So what do big corporations do? Genetically alter the seeds to manipulate the plants production. Are you starting to get a picture of the mess we are in?

If we continue to think we can strip the soil of it’s life and not give back what we took out, we are only fooling ourselves. It is the law of nature. You reap what you sow. We must begin by paying attention to where the supply of our food comes from. Eat organically as much as possible. Grow your own garden or join a co-op or community garden. Eat locally. Our mental health, physical health, emotional health and or spiritual health are all dependent on the health of our soil.  Be loyal to the soil. It is a matter of living a healthy, happy, prosperous and abundant life. It is Alive!

Here are 3 reasons why gardening is super healthy for your mind, body and spirit!

1- Higher Self-Esteem

Even a single session helps you feel productive and purposeful!

2- Improves Focus

Doing a single task like weeding or digging is meditative, which can give your brain practice in focusing!

3-Stronger Immunity

More and more research shows that children who garden (play in dirt) develop healthier immune systems. Experts suspect grown-ups get an immune boost, too!

Healthy Soil Healthy Life

April 15, 2014

healthy soilAh yes, spring is finally here. The forsythia is in bloom and the daffodils are brightening our days with their cheerful presence. Everything is coming back to life. It is miraculous. Underneath our feet is the earth that supports the growth of these plants and all life on earth. Soil, or what can be referred to as earth must be healthy in order for our plants to thrive and grace us with there beauty. Unfortunately, many people have lost the connection with nature and are destroying our soil with chemicals like herbicides, pesticides and insecticides. Then feeding it with toxic fertilizers. The earth is alive, and just like our minds must start out with a healthy foundation in order to grow strong, vibrant and healthy. Compost, using natural alternatives, (and there are many out there) to toxic ones that destroy all of the micronutrients that support the infrastructure of our soil. Like our bodies and minds we too are made up of this soil. Healthy soil supports a healthy community. Like above so below. Pick up some soil today and feel it, smell it,bless it, thank it and support it. Your life depends on healthy soil. Reconnect with your roots.
