Did you ever try something and just flop? I was asked to be one of the speakers for a start-up TV internet show, which I’ve done before. I mean, this was not my first rodeo. I’ve spoken many times before, but this time, I just flopped. I could blame it on the stage, the distractions that were numerous or any number of other things, however the bottom line is a screwed up. I had my talk memorized, I practiced over and over and over again. I recorded myself, I read it out load so many times I can’t even count. I wrote it on index cards, nothing helped. And it wasn’t even like I got nervous, it was just this weird brain freeze that occurred. So, I just improvised. Everyone in the audience said it was great, but I know what my good is and it was far from that. But you know what? I was okay with flopping. I didn’t beat myself up over it.
In the past, I would have been so hard on myself, but now, I strike it up to experience. I get back up and go do it again. Sometimes we get knocked down. Sometimes we fail, sometimes we make mistakes and some times we don’t make the grade.
I ask myself what did I learn from this experience and how can I improve?
Nothing helpful will come from beating yourself up over a failure. It is all about failing forward. failure is part of success. If you haven’t failed most likely you won’t succeed. So the next time you flop, brushed yourself, congratulate yourself for even trying and onward and upward.

“The most important physiological discovery of the century is the discovery of the self image.” Maxwell Maltz
Who really are you? What are your beliefs about yourself? We are the person we believe ourselves to be. Henry Ford said,” If you think you can’t do something you’re right, If you think you can, you’re right too.”
Maxwell Maltz was a renowned plastic surgeon back in the 1930’s and 1940’s. He saw that after removing scars and preforming other procedures on peoples faces to improve their appearance, they still didn’t feel any better about themselves. He found this remarkable and later went on to write a book Psycho-Cybernetics, were he introduced his idea that a person must have an accurate and positive view of themselves before setting goals; otherwise they will get stuck in a continuing pattern of limiting beliefs.
If ones self image is unhealthy or faulty, everything he or she does will end up in failure. A healthy self image is the key to your success.
The good news is you can change your self image through awareness, study, understanding and diligently applying the principles to become someone new. If you want a new personal reality, you need to create a new personality.
If you want more success, if you want to aspire higher, or if you just want to feel better about YOU, reach out. It will be a grand step in developing an outstanding self image.
There are millions of people every day, who play the lottery, hoping to win the big prize. The bigger the numbers get, the more people want to win. You got to be in it to win it!According to lottery officials the odds of winning a big windfall of about $540 million are 1 in $176 million. These are not very good odds. However, people still play, believing that they can beat the odds. Hey, someones got to win. There is also some pretty grim stories of peoples lives taking a turn for the worst when they did win. Five years after winning a large sum of money, most people filled for bankruptcy. Not only did they file for bankruptcy, many turned to gambling and drug addiction, went through divorce, committed suicide and murder. You sure do have to bein it to win it!
How about investing in yourself, instead? Set yourself some worthy goals. All you need is a pen, a sheet of paper and some time every day to write and think about what you really want. Then see yourself already in possession of those goals. You see, it’s not the goals themselves that will bring you success, it’s who you are becoming as you work towards them. They are lasting.
So, go ahead, wait on that long line and invest in a lottery ticket. If you want fleeting wealth, then believe in the slogan, you got to be in it to win it. Or, put your money in yourself for lasting wealth, and write a goal, that’s good for your soul.
I have had many failures in my life. Some were harder to endure than others. However, I always got up and tried again. For every failure holds the seed to success. The oak tree sleeps in the acorn; the bird waits in the egg; and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dream, imagine, and take action every day toward your vision. The idea is planted in your mind for a reason. It must be cultivated, before you harvest the reward. Every failure brings you one step closer to success. So never give up on your worthy idea. Fail forward. A baby learns to walk by falling down many times. A young child learns to ride a bicycle by getting back up on it. So don’t stop now, keep on learning, growing, giving your best, and before you know it you will have cracked open the seed to success.
