High Anxiety

November 14, 2019

The Holidays are quickly approaching and that means people become more stressed than any other time of year. People put so much pressure on themselves to get everything done. Being around family can trigger certain behaviors that you would rather avoid.  It seems like everyone is so stressed out these days. Anxiety is the # 1 condition that children are now plagued with. The research is showing that here on Long Island NY, where I live that Xanax is the highest prescribed medication than anywhere else in the country! Why are people so stressed? And a bigger question is why are children becoming so stressed out?

There are three types of stress that people experience.

  • Physical Stress: Injuries to the body, such as broken bones, torn ligaments, wounds or any other trauma that can inflict the body.
  • Chemical Stress: Food poisoning, hang overs, chemical sensitivities, electro-magnetic interference from Wi fi, environmental toxins, viruses and other such reactions.
  • Emotional Stress: Single parenting, working two jobs, divorce, type A personality, work overload, traffic jams, deadlines, unexpected bills, caring for elderly parents and the list can go on and on….

All of these will affect the mind and body in a negative way.

When you are having a difficult time quieting your mind, your body will give you signs that your out of balance. IBS (Irritable bowl syndrome), headaches, rashes, aches and pains and a myriad of other symptoms can appear as well as disturbed sleep, depression and so on. 95% of all illnesses are stress related.

Taking Xanax and other such medication has become a crutch and an addiction. Anxiety can be treated in natural ways by developing a healthy lifestyle.

Here are Seven tools that can help ease the stress and anxiety.

1-Breath: Take a few deep guttural breaths in and out when you feel like your head is spinning and your thoughts are racing. It will calm the neuro-pathways in your brain and relax your body.

2-Movement: Take a walk, dance, yoga, qigong, swim or anything to change the energy in your body. Your body always keeps score. Emotions are energy in motion, so change the energy and change the emotion.

3-Diet: Unfortunately, our food change has become corrupted. The more live natural and organic foods you can eat, the better. Eliminate sugar, processed foods, wheat, meat and dairy as much as possible. It has a direct correlation to anxiety in stress. A healthy microbiome is #1 defense against illness and disease.

4-Meditate: Quieting the mind chatter and focusing on a mantra is a wonderful practice to stay in the present moment and eliminate distraction.

5-Nature: Connect with the outdoors. Take a walk in a wooded area or by the ocean. You are a part of nature and so many people have disconnected themselves from the natural world. Touch the soil with your feet and feel the energy from Mother Earth. It is healing.

6-Purpose: Discover what you love to do and do it every day. What are your gifts, abilities and talents? By focusing on your purpose, you will find that your mind will be absorbed in something greater than your worries.

7-Laugh: Laughter is good medicine. You can heal so many ills through laughter. It is good for the mind/body and soul.

Also reach out and talk to a professional, such as a coach, therapist, or specialist that can help and support you. Having someone who is compassionate and understanding to talk to is vital to heal the wounds, trauma and anxiety that you have bottled up inside yourself.

Let’s change the course of direction for our children and ourselves by utilizing these natural ways to alleviate stress and anxiety rather than numb and medicate.

Let’s become a more compassionate, grateful, loving, caring, understanding, creative and imaginative world. It all starts with YOU!

Weathering the Storms In Life

June 12, 2019

A good seaman weathers the storms he can not avoid, and avoids the storms he can not weather. Perhaps the key is to identify the difference.

I recently attended a funeral of a man who literally drank himself to death. He was an alcoholic in the depths of his addiction. It truly is a disease. It was a man I did not know well, but was there to support a friend who was involved with him. Some of his siblings spoke about him which revealed a man in his younger years was an extremely gifted and talented sailor, surfer, athlete and dancer. He went to Julliard for ballet!  So what happened?  When does a life start to take a turn and head into stormy waters? How can you navigate out of it? Why didn’t he get help? What was it that he was avoiding? So many questions, but no answers.

It was as if his life was battling a constant storm that he couldn’t get out of.

You might be going through some storms of your own or have gone through some turbulent times. We all go through tough times in life. With support and guidance you can get through them and even avoid some of them. You always need a good skipper on hand to help you see things you can’t as you are steering your way through life! So, if your going through a storm in your life, ask for help, pray, meditate on it and know anything is possible to get through with faith and courage.

Vibe With Your Tribe

February 13, 2019

You become who you associate with.

We humans are tribal by nature. In other words we need each other. When you are in a community of like minded people you will thrive with your tribe! Businesses, companies and families that work & play together perform so much better then those who don’t get alone. I remember in my teenage years ( many moons ago) where kids got into gangs like the Jets or the Sharks in West Side Story. They vibed with their tribe, but it was a negative vibe. In the end, everyone of those members who didn’t leave are no longer with us.

When your in a positive state of mind, thinking and feeling good things, you will begin to attract the people that will co-create with you. Amazing opportunities will show up, circumstances will change and conditions will improve. Form a mastermind group that will assist you in developing all your gift, talents and abilities.

Call to action: Do your best to aspire to things you desire. Stay in this vibration as long as you can every day and watch what happens. Love to hear your successes. Happy Vibes!

Go Into The Unknown

August 23, 2018

If you would create something, you must be something.

Johann Wolfgang Goethe

In a world that seems to be moving faster and faster into automation, how are we going to survive? AI (Artificial Intelligence) is here. More and more people’s jobs are being replaced by a machine. Which is a good thing if you can see it that way. We really aren’t designed to do medial tasks. We are creators and meant to create. The only problem is most people are in survival mode and lost their abilities to stir up their creative juices. If we feel threatened we are only concerned with surviving. Everything we do will be centered around protecting our lives and  that leaves no room for creativity. Being creative is liberating. It is free expression and allowing yourself to go into the unknown with a feeling of wonder, joy and excitement. It is turning on your mind to possibilities. That is what we are here to do.

To build, or play music, dance, write, invent, discover or anything that releases your gifts. so if you’re one of the people who lost their job to AI, see if you can turn being upset into being grateful. Because there is where you will find your passion to create.  It is in you!

Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

Carl Sagan

Do You Want to Know a Secret?

May 10, 2018

“Nature yields her most profound secrets to the person who is determined to uncover them.”         Napoleon Hill

I love older classic movies from the 1940-1950’s. I find the acting and stories so compelling. There were no special effects to entertain you, so the dialog had to be intriguing, intelligent and emotionally gripping. There was’t even any color to enhance the scenes so using shadows and playing with angles left much to your imagination.

One movie I watch last week was Bird Man of Alcatraz, a true story based on the life of  Robert Franklin Stroud. He was incarcerated for 54 years of his life with 43 of those years in solitary confinement. In that time he became a respected ornithologist (bird expert) and  educated himself in many subjects.

It made me think of what we are capable of when we join forces with this universal intelligence. We don’t have to go to solitary confinement to uncover our  talents and gifts, but we do need to sacrifice something of a lower nature for a higher one.

When we go into the solitude of our minds, nature will begin to reveal her secrets to you too!

Are you ready for a revaluation?
